British startup Blippar test AR AR navigation field launched AR City

British startup Blippar has always been committed to advancing the development of augmented reality, including the launch of AR development self-service Blipparbuilder, AR visual exploration application Blipparsphere, and some AR marketing applications combined with the development of specific activities.

Recently, Blippar has released another AR navigation application, AR City (currently the beta version). The application is based on the support of Apple Maps and integrates GPS and mobile VIO by creating an ARCL library to provide users with an AR navigation experience. The implementation of the user position tracking VIO (Visual Inertial Odometry) is based on the Apple ARkit tool, and the GPS is based on the framework Core Location which provides the device location in the iOS SDK.

It is understood that AR City supports AR navigation in more than 300 cities around the world, and its achievable functions mainly include road information navigation in the AR environment, detailed display of the user's location (such as the attachment's attractions), and urban visual positioning (when The name of the building can be displayed when you scan the building with your mobile phone camera, but it is worth noting that the current city's visual positioning function is only open in central London, San Francisco and Mountain View, USA.

However, AR City is still a beta version, and more features have yet to be tapped.
