On February 13, 2014, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the release of a new family of thick film chip resistors for high power surface mount RF applications - the RCP series. The Vishay Dale RCP series features a 1206 small form factor with a power rating of 1W at +70°C and standard printed board mounting and a power rating of 11W with active temperature control.

RCP series resistors are suitable for high power aerospace, military, industrial and telecommunications systems, using a stable thick film resistor core and a resin housing on an aluminum nitride ceramic (AlN) substrate. The RCP series has a very high thermal conductivity in a small package size and operates from -55°C to +155°C.

The RCP series resistors have a resistance of 10 Ω to 2 kΩ, tolerances of ±2% and ±5%, and TCR of ±100 ppm/°C. To improve solderability, the device uses tin/lead and lead-free package terminations on the nickel gate. The resistor complies with the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and complies with the halogen-free regulations of JEDEC JS709A.
