Taiwan's AUOptronics, the world's third-largest LCD manufacturer, said the board of directors set up a LED backlighting program for display screens through a NT$1.5 billion. The purpose of this move is to help the company get LED backlight supply.
The analysis pointed out that new technologies such as LCDs with energy-efficient LED backlights help to boost the display market and branded personal notebooks with LED backlighting. AUOptronics' board of directors also passed a cash dividend payment of NT$2.50 per share and a 5% stock dividend from 2007.
