At the National Science and Technology Awards Conference held on January 8 last year at the National Science and Technology Awards Conference, “High-efficiency GaN-based blue silicon substrate developed by Nanchang University, Jingneng Optoelectronics (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd. and China Energy Saving Crystal and Lighting Co., Ltd. The "Color Light Emitting Diode" project (referred to as the silicon substrate LED) won the only one in 2015 and was the first national technical invention first prize in Jiangxi Province.

In the hundreds of billions of dollars in the global LED lighting industry market, due to Japanese and American companies monopolizing technology and occupying the market, China's LED upstream industry was still blank until the beginning of this century: power chips all Relying on imports, more than 90% of the country's production companies follow the imitation of others, and most companies lack core patented technologies and brands. Based on the judgment of the development of the world's semiconductor lighting industry, the provincial government introduced the “Implementation Plan for Building Nanchang Optical Valley and Building Jiangxi LED Industrial Base” at the end of 2015, and decided to take advantage of the original advantages of silicon substrate LED to realize the transition from the technical high point to the industry. The commanding heights will be cultivated into the new growth pole of the province's industrial economy during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. By 2020, the province's LED industry's main business income will exceed 100 billion yuan, accounting for 15% of the country's total. Points, Nanchang's main business income reached 50 billion yuan; from the technical points, silicon substrate LED main business income reached 50 billion yuan. Subsequently, Nanchang also issued a series of policy measures to create "Nanchang Optical Valley."

Before the technical advantages of scientific research institutions, and the strong promotion of the provincial and municipal departments, the construction of “Nanchang Optical Valley” was rapidly promoted in the good environment of Tianshi, Dili and Renhe, forming upstream chips, midstream packaging and downstream application products. The world's first silicon substrate technology industry chain, the number of LED enterprises in high-tech zones has increased to more than 30, the industry technology level is first-class in the country, and has established a good market reputation in mobile phone flashlights and automotive applications.

However, whether it is the target of “Nanchang Optics Valley” in 2020, or the value of “Wuhan Optics Valley”, the semiconductor lighting industry based on silicon substrate technology is too weak. “Heart is big and body. The situation of "small" did not improve quickly.

The scientific and technological achievements will be transformed faster and faster.

The research and development of silicon substrate LED technology has condensed the efforts and sweat of scientific research institutions and enterprises for nearly 20 years; creating “Nanchang Optical Valley”, Jiangxi Province and Nanchang City have placed great hopes. Insiders pointed out that silicon substrate technology is a treasure that Jiangxi has developed very hard. It does not exploit this technological advantage and develop it to form a strong industry and become productive.

Some experts said that the industrialization of scientific research results in universities is a global problem. In the "last mile" of industrialization application, the researchers who "take the chalk" should focus on improving the technological advantages, while the industrialization work is handed over to the entity. In the process of promoting the industrialization of silicon substrate LEDs, we should take the road of differentiated development, focus on high-end markets such as special lighting, lead the optimization of product supply with demand side, and lead the new market demand with supply innovation.
