Abstract: The impact resistance of a film is an important performance index reflecting its flexibility and an important basis for evaluating the quality of a film. In this paper, the anti-pendulum impact energy of the same film sample is tested by different diameter punches of Labthink FIT-01 film impact tester. The test principle, equipment parameters and test process are described. The test results show different diameters. The test results of the punch are not the same. When comparing the impact resistance of packaging materials, enterprises should use punches of the same diameter to prevent the impact on the test results due to the different diameters of the punches.

Meaning

The anti-pendulum impact energy of the film is a physical quantity to measure its impact resistance. Generally speaking, the higher the anti-pendulum impact energy, the better the impact resistance of the film and the better the flexibility. After the film is used for packaging products, it will inevitably be impacted and impacted by external forces during the later transportation and storage process. If the impact resistance of the film is poor, it is easy to break the bag under the impact or impact, so it is good. The impact resistance is one of the essential properties of film materials.

The anti-pendulum impact energy of the film is generally tested by a film impact tester to detect the amount of energy consumed when the punch breaks through the sample. In general, a small diameter punch has a small contact area with the film when striking the film, and a larger diameter punch has a large contact area with the film. Theoretically, the difference in contact area causes the punch to break. The energy consumed in the sample is different. In order to verify this conclusion, the paper uses different diameter punches to test the anti-pendulum impact energy of the film.

2. Test sample

The test sample used in this test was a single-layer polyethylene (PE) film material for packaging.

3. According to the standard

At present, the detection standard of anti-pendulum impact energy of domestic film materials is GB 8809-1988 "Plastic film anti-pendulum impact test method".

4. Test equipment

The test equipment for detecting the anti-pendulum impact energy of the sample is the FIT-01 film impact tester independently developed by Jinan Languang Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd.

4.1 Principle of the test

The basic test principle of this test is energy conservation, and ignores the energy consumed by air and other resistance during the test. During the test, the pendulum is released from a certain height, so that the punch breaks through the sample at a certain speed, and continues to move upwards to a certain height and then fall back. The anti-pendulum impact energy of the sample is obtained by testing the energy change of the punch before and after breaking the sample.

4.2 Equipment parameters

l Impact energy is 1 J, 2 J, 3 J (expandable to 5 J) with a resolution of 0.001 J.

lThe diameter of the punch is divided into 25.4 mm, 19 mm and 12.7 mm. The other non-standard sizes can be customized.

l The diameter of the sample jaws on the equipment is 89 mm and 60 mm, respectively.

l The range is adjustable, and the electronic measurement can easily and accurately test under various test conditions.

l Pneumatic clamping of the sample, the pneumatic release of the pendulum and the horizontal adjustment auxiliary system effectively avoid the systematic error caused by human factors.

4.3 Scope of application

(1) This equipment is suitable for the accurate measurement of anti-pendulum impact performance of plastic film, sheet, composite film, metal foil and other materials. It can also be used for anti-pendulum impact performance test of paper and paperboard, such as cigarette paper aluminized paper. , Tetra Pak packaging aluminum plastic paper composite materials.

(2) The equipment meets a number of national and international standards: GB 8809, ASTM D3420, NF T54-116.

5. Test process

(1) Randomly cut 20 pieces of 10 cm × 10 cm specimens along the width direction of the surface of the sample film, and place the sample at a temperature of 23±2 °C and 45% to 55% RH for at least 4 h. And experiment in this environment.

(2) Test the thickness of the sample with a thickness gauge, test 10 points, and take the arithmetic mean of the test results at 10 points.

(3) Select a punch with a diameter of 12.7 mm for the test. The diameter of the sample is 89 mm.

(4) Perform equipment calibration according to the requirements of the equipment.

(5) Fix the sample flatly into the sample holder of the equipment. The sample should not have wrinkles or excessive tension.

(6) Enter the test interface, fix the pendulum, click the test button, the pendulum will automatically fall, impact the sample, and the equipment will show the anti-pendulum impact energy of the sample.

(7) Ten samples randomly selected were tested for anti-pendulum impact energy in sequence.

(8) Replace the punch with a diameter of 19 mm and test the anti-pendulum impact energy of the remaining 10 samples according to the procedure of (4) ~ (7).

6. Test results

The thickness of the sample is 79.6 μm. When using a punch with a diameter of 12.7 mm, the average value of the pendulum impact energy of 10 samples is 0.863 J. When using a punch with a diameter of 19 mm, 10 samples are used. The average value of the anti-pendulum impact energy is 1.731 J.

7. Conclusion

When detecting the anti-pendulum impact energy of the film, the corresponding test results of the punches with different diameters are quite different, and the test results are incomparable. Therefore, the enterprise compares and analyzes the packaging materials by detecting the anti-pendulum impact energy of the film. For impact resistance and flexibility, the test shall be carried out using a punch of the same diameter. FIT-01 film impact tester has the advantages of high test accuracy, accurate test results, wide application range and high intelligence in the anti-pendulum impact energy of the test film. It is a highly practical testing equipment.
