“At present, the lithium-ion battery industry in Chongqing has a capacity of only a few hundred thousand kilowatt-hours a year, but the city has a market volume of 30 million kilowatt-hours and the total industrial output value of nearly 200 billion yuan. The gap is still too great.” Yue said that because of this, Chongqing has a large outflow of lithium-ion battery output every year.

According to Ren Yue, lithium-ion batteries have great potential for future development as a new energy source. Taking an all-solid-state thin-film lithium-ion battery as an example, Japan and the United Kingdom have now produced an electric car battery that can fully charge in one minute.

With the support of the national new energy policy, it is expected that the demand for new energy vehicles in China will reach 977,700 vehicles in 2015, with an average annual growth rate of 216%. As the core power equipment of new energy vehicles, there is a huge market for lithium batteries and motors.

The most important component of lithium-ion batteries is lithium manganate.
