Intel's vision for artificial intelligence, driverless, virtual reality and 5G

As 2017 is approaching, as the wind vane of the information technology industry, Intel has released the latest outlook for 2020, arguing that human beings are welcoming a world of intelligent connectivity and connected to the cloud, and the technological transformation potential will bring unprecedented experience; At the same time, Intel also highlighted the tremendous development potential and opportunities in the four key areas of artificial intelligence, driverless, virtual reality and 5G.

In 2016, as everyday objects, commercial and industrial equipment, and the city became smarter, connected, and connected to the cloud, people witnessed the continued convergence of the digital and physical worlds. Analysts predict that by 2020, more than 50 billion devices will be connected to the Internet and connected to each other, including wearables, store inventory sensors, driverless cars, medical equipment and urban infrastructure. 1

The relationship between humans and technology has also begun to become more tense, in terms of the way technology is used for humans, the experience that technology can achieve, and the benefits people get from technology. Since the transition from the analog technology era to the digital technology era, there has not been such a significant potential for change: the network is evolving faster to meet the ever-high bandwidth requirements of growing and always-on interconnected devices that require real-time access, Analyze and share data.

In fact, Intel has also deployed four key areas of artificial intelligence, driverless, virtual reality and 5G. In 2016, there will be a series of important announcements. In 2017, Intel will continue to focus on these four key areas and accelerate implementation. Innovation and change.

artificial intelligence

From universal applications (speech recognition, photo tagging, and fraud detection) to cutting-edge research (precise medical care, casualty prediction, and self-driving cars), artificial intelligence (AI) has long been ubiquitous. Artificial intelligence will enable machines to enhance human capabilities, automate cumbersome or dangerous tasks, promote scientific discovery, and solve challenging social problems.

By 2020, the global robotics and artificial intelligence market is expected to grow to $153 billion, with robots accounting for $83 billion and artificial intelligence-based analysis accounting for $70 billion.
2016

August 6th: Intel signed a definitive agreement to acquire Nervana Systems, a recognized leader in deep learning.

November 17th: Intel announces an artificial intelligence strategy that reveals how a range of new products, technologies and investments from the edge to the data center will expand and accelerate the growth of artificial intelligence. One of the highlights is the Intel® NervanaTM platform. The goal of the platform is to reduce the time to train deep learning models by up to 100 times over the next three years (compared to GPU solutions).

2017

Technology will become more cost-effective and more pervasive, and innovative applications will emerge in all walks of life to increase efficiency for businesses and consumers.

Technologies that support some of the emerging artificial intelligence applications will be greatly improved, such as natural language processing and robotics, paving the way for the wider application of artificial intelligence.

Machine and deep learning will be more accurately integrated into IoT devices, opening up deeper insights.

Intel will introduce three Intel Nervana platform products developed for speed and ease of use, enabling more data professionals to solve some of the world's biggest challenges with industry-standard technology. These products include:

Breakthrough technology from Nervana Systems, which will be tested on the first chip (codenamed "Lake Crest") in the first half of 2017 and will be delivered to customers in the neural network field later in the year for deep learning Delivers maximum performance and delivers unprecedented compute density through high-bandwidth interconnects.

A new product (codenamed "Knights Crest") that tightly integrates best-in-class Intel® Xeon® processors with Nervana Systems technology.

The next-generation Intel® Xeon PhiTM processor (codenamed “Knights Mill”) will increase the performance of deep learning by four times over the previous generation.

5G

5G is not just a faster network, it is also expected to provide extremely low latency and extremely high bandwidth, which means it can meet the unprecedented demand for data and more connected devices. Powerful, agile networks can also intelligently distribute network traffic to prioritize highly security-focused devices such as driverless cars and medical wearables. In areas where the speed and reliability of the connected infrastructure still needs to be improved, 5G will also open up new possibilities that are currently unavailable.

It is predicted that the global 5G network will support about 100 billion devices in the future.

2016

February 5: Intel first launched the Intel 5G mobile test platform at the World Mobile Communications Conference (MWC). Recently, Intel introduced a second-generation platform and is using 5G network testing for multiple Tier 1 service providers.

July 14: The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) unanimously passed a plan to implement 5G in the United States.

December 6th: Intel announced a partnership with AT&T* and Ericsson* to launch the first 5G commercial customer pilot -- the first of its kind.

2017

5G will continue to shift from concept and experiment to meaningful deployment plans to accelerate support for the entire industry.

The need for faster connections will increase industry pressure - global standards must be consistent between IEEE and 3GPP and address key challenges surrounding interoperability, backward compatibility, and future verification.
