AD7175-2 Reference Design Circuit | ADC Application Circuit

The AD7175-2 is a low noise, fast settling, multiplexed, 2/4 channel (fully differential/pseudo differential) sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for low bandwidth inputs. For fully established data, the device has a maximum channel scan rate of 50 kSPS (20 μs). The output data rate ranges from 5 SPS to 250 kSPS.

The AD7175-2 integrates key analog and digital signal conditioning modules that allow the user to configure each analog input channel individually. The user can select functions individually for each channel. The analog input and external reference inputs integrate a true rail-to-rail buffer to provide a high impedance input that is easy to drive. The precision 2.5 V low drift (2 ppm/°C) bandgap internal reference (with output reference buffer) adds embedded functionality while reducing the number of external components.

AD7175-2 features:

1. Fast and flexible output rate: 5 SPS to 250 kSPS

2, channel scan data rate: 50 kSPS / channel (20 μs settling time)

3, performance specifications
17.2 bit noise free resolution (250 kSPS)
20-bit noise-free resolution (2.5 kSPS)
24-bit noise-free resolution (20SPS)
INL: ±1 ppm of FSR

4, 50 Hz and 60 Hz rejection: 85 dB, setup time 50 ms

AD7175-2 application:
1. Process control: PLC/DCS module
2, temperature and pressure measurement
3. Medical and scientific multi-channel instruments

Figure 2: Typical Connection Diagram for the AD7175-2

The AD7175-2 contains a 2.5 V precision low drift (±2 ppm/°C) bandgap reference. This reference can be used for ADC conversion to reduce the number of external components. In addition, the reference can also be output on the REFOUT pin for use as a low noise bias voltage for external circuitry. One example is the use of the REFOUT signal to set the input common-mode voltage of an external amplifier. The AD7175-2 contains two independent linear regulator modules for analog and digital circuits. The analog LDO regulates the AVDD2 supply to 1.8 V to power the ADC core. The user can connect the AVDD1 and AVDD2 supplies together, making the connection the easiest. If the system already has a clean analog rail from 2 V (min) to 5.5 V (max), the user can also choose to connect this to the AVDD2 input to reduce power consumption.
