Vishay Introduces 0.75mm Thick High Brightness White LED


Vishay Intertechnology has launched a white LED VLMW82 with a size of 3.3mm 3.4mm 0.75mm and a maximum brightness of 18000mcd. The product can be used in camera flashes, car brake lights / turn signals and dashboard panel backlights, and emergency lighting.

This is a white LED developed by combining TAG (yttrium aluminum garnet) with a fluorescent material on a blue LED using GaN material. The maximum forward current is 500mA and the maximum forward voltage is 4.3V. The beam is 35 lm in standard state (when the input current is 500 mA). The luminous efficiency is 40 lm/W (when the input current is 100 mA). The luminescent color is (x = 0.33, y = 0.33) according to the CIE chromaticity diagram.

The surface mount ceramic package CLCC-2 is used. The thermal resistance is 20K/W. The half-peak angle of the packaged radiation is 60 degrees. The product complies with JEDEC's ESD (electrostatic discharge) withstand voltage specification JESD22-A114-8. Sample shipments are currently available, and volume production is scheduled to begin in July 2008.
