OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' SFH 4711A is the economical choice for short-range closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems. This transmitter provides the ideal light output and emission characteristics for this type of application. Many CCTV systems use infrared light to cover the target surveillance area to improve image quality. The area covered is the most important factor in the correct selection of the transmitter. The key parameter is the radiation intensity, in other words, the amount of light per unit solid angle emitted by an infrared LED (IRED).
The SFH 4711A emits 300mW of light at a current of 0.5A with an emission angle of ±45°. It achieves ideal radiant intensity in the range of about ten meters, meeting the requirements of closed-circuit television systems such as art galleries, jewelry stores and bank lobbies.
The SFH 4711A uses a smaller chip that emits at 850 nm. This product complements the gap between the Power Topled (eg SFH 4258S) and high-power transmitters (eg SFH 4715A), helping to optimize system costs during the development phase. Ideal for applications that require a mid-range output for each component.
Infrared Oslon Black products are perfect for lighting applications. These black, compact components are hidden from view and have low thermal resistance, simplifying thermal design and providing high corrosion resistance. The package and lens geometry of the SFH 4711A is identical to existing Oslon Black transmitters (eg SFH 4713A, SFH 4715A).
This is good for designers who have used these versions, and they can continue to use the existing external optics and assembly process of the SFH 4711A. The PCB layout can also be retained, depending on the operating current.
